Driving

Get in the car, hop on bus, take a train. You get the point. Go somewhere. Forget about your story. Get lost with your surroundings—the trees, the street, the people. Something will happen. Maybe that old man with the long earlobes will plop down in front of you and you’ll realize he belongs in your story. Or you will see a large woman driving a golf cart on the road through town and you’ll smack your head and think, “Golf cart!” You don’t need a map to get to where you’re going because something you will see or hear or smell will take you back home to your story.
